More Magazine work

This is a continuation of my magazine obsession. Last year we were required to construct, conceptualize and complete a  magazine in a group.We each had to do a three page spread with an article and whatever extra the magazine required I did an extra ad and a technological magazine spread  for my article.
We were required to do all our own photography for this project so I decided to use my home as a studio. go check out my Tumblr here for those photo's which are to be uploaded soon. Even though I feel 
It was my first attempt at this and I feel it wasn't to bad.

Iconic Redesign

We had a project to redesign an iconic brand in SA and come up with an advertising solution for the brand, we had a choice between: yum yum peanut butter; Mageau no 1; Glenryck Pilchards and Ouma rusks. I chose Ouma rusks and recreated the packaging and came up with an advertising solution of remembering your first time you had an Ouma. My Idea could be interpreted in various ways and for me was the best solution for topical advertising, I had various ideas for the slogan "Remember your first dip" was my final decision. It could have been edgy or really simple I chose to stick with simple because as a brand Ouma really isn't edgy it is a more traditional brand and maybe if need be it could be a bit tongue and cheek but not as daring as brands like Nando's. So thats is why my advertising is simple and clean.

The Radio station that is Vibe

We had to create a fictional radio station for college by the name of Vibe fm. I designed this logo to support my whole theme of contrasting where I contrasted rock and soul for the advertising and blocky font and script font for my logo. The whole concept of my brand is an appeal to musically eclectic people with a focus on alternative rock,soul and indie music.

I took these photo's for one of our projects where we had to create a radio station focusing on the branding logo and advertising. These pictures I took for my advertising campaign for my radio station, which was called Vibe, I shall be uploading my logo and the final adverts but I felt like these photo's needed to be shared beforehand.

 

 

Surreal Amazement

There are times in life when one is rendered speechless. When I saw these that whole speechless sensation happened to me. Personally Surrealism is one of my favourite art periods and photography has become a new passion for me so witnessing these two fuse in a flawless way was something I felt I had to be shared. First Studio experience

 My very first time taking pictures in a studio and I must say it is quite fun. Although these were done for my friend back in February I have no Idea why they were not posted earlier but here they are from my photgraphic archives enjoy.

Memoirs of a good movie

 

Albeit this is an excellent movie designing a poster for it was not so easy because I  really wanted to use a portrait for my poster but the original movie poster had the exact same portrait I wanted to use . I had to improvise and I'm pretty chuffed only problem is I don't know which one to chose to hand in. 

Retro colour appeal

A photoshoot with a theme of versus well simply I chose colours to place together in a "battle" for dominance. Eventually it turned out to be a photoshoot to capture water in motion which I have been wanting to try for quite a while. Clearly it seems that some food colouring wine glasses and water are all you need for some fun photo experiments, but for a fun night I say chuck the water and food colouring out and replace with a good shiraz,merlot or pinotage.

 

Some Serious Ads

A designers jobs is not only to make things look "pretty" but it is to inform and to cause a reaction . These adverts are emotionally gripping and some are quite shocking but they get the message across effectively and simply. These images were sourced from tutorart

Vitamin Water with an Interesting Twist

In the world of designing, remaking or re-branding a concept might just be the boost a product needs to increase sales, but one must be careful for re-branding consists of a whole lot more than just a logo.
In this instance we had to re-brand a famous brand but with a twist e.g. meat flavoured bubblegum, onion scented soap etc. I chose one of my favourite drinks Vitamin Water and decided to re-brand it
and the twist is flavour specific but the general twist is instant intelligence. Basically my product has a chemical in it that allows you to utilize the full power of you brain instantly hence the inspiration for the name of my product Brain[HI]Dr8. Sounds too good to be true well it is for the side effects can be a real pain!

Fainting apple has the tendency well to make people faint instantly after drinking.. But you will become intelligent!

 Heartburn lemon tends to give our customers severe heartburn instantly... But you will become intelligent!

 although It seems very hydrating Dehydrate Grape dehydrates you instantaneously... But it will make you clever!   

 Bladder berry is slightly embarrassing because you lose control of you bladder instantly... But it will make you clever

Dark Stencils

  For a stencil first timer I must say I still got a lot to learn but I can see why this art form has become so well recognized and why it is so modern. Stencilling is so versatile if done well it can stand alone as an artwork or it could be amazing in a poster and in an advert. It is most notorious for being on walls but one must say it is pleasing to look at and can be meaningful too.

Last year guy Fawkes was the the first guy Fawkes since I was about 6 when my parents bought fireworks and like a little child on Christmas day I was ecstatic. Hopefully these explosions excite you to.

Let the Advertising begin

 Its a simple process of where to begin and in my case I began with photo's and some ideas. none of which actually materialized instead I just developed them as I went along so here they are billboards we were asked to design for photography simply we had to take photo's and add our logo into them but give it the right type of look that would go with our brand.

When Inspiration hits

 In College inside our Photography studio people were taking pictures of me for some projects I had to stare at these Umbrellas and realized they would actually make pretty good photos. So I took out my camera and whilst people were deciding what I must do as the model I shot away at the umbrellas and produced these. I was pretty chuffed with myself because my photography lecturer praised me for these pics and I had fun irritating my classmates because every second they delayed I was taking photos it was pretty fun.
